Another wonderful post from you. Thiebaud had such a unique vision. The quote of his you note illuminates this so clearly: “Common objects become strangely uncommon when removed from their context and ordinary ways of being seen.” I remember being so surprised the first time I saw a Thiebaud landscape, thinking, isn’t he the pie guy? Well, that too, but also so much more. Flood Waters is one that was new to me, and infinitely appealing. Also, once again, you are the one who has alerted me to an exhibit going on right now in my home town! Duly noted and I really do hope this time to get there while it is still on.
