You know I love any type of art that clearly shows that the artist had to spend a lot of time in producing it. He obviously did so. BTW, the second piece shown, Intolerance 7.6 X 13. 2 FT looks a lot like my bathroom floor some days.

I do know that and I'm glad you enjoyed this artist's work, David. I doubt that your bathroom floor has any political significance, though.

Yep, no political significance, just messiness

So glad you posted about this artist and exhibit. I have calendared and hope to get over there before it closes. The work reminded me of this artwork at the Met, which was absolutely stunning to see in person (unfortunately not currently on view): https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/319872

I love El Anatsui. I have been fortunate to see a couple in person, especially the 13 x 17 foot work in the collection at Newfields (formerly Indianapolis Museum of Art). It's spectacular. https://collections.discovernewfields.org/artwork/32998

If you do get to see this exhibit, I hope you'll come back and share your experience.

Saw the Konate yesterday, with many thanks to you for noting it. Here's my "report" (almost entirely photos): https://prufrocksdilemma.wordpress.com/2024/01/28/the-textile-artistry-of-abdoulaye-konate/

Thanks for sharing the link and your kind words there. Your photos are great. The details help me understand the fabrics and sewing better. I hope others of our readers will follow your link and see your great photos.

Oh, thank you! I’m so glad the detail photos were useful to see how the works were constructed. It was absolutely amazing to see those works “in person.” And I would not have known but for you.
