Love this. On May 4 a few weeks ago this was the 10 Minute Art Challenge in the New York Times. I won’t speak for them but they ask viewers to do just that, study a special painting and reflect then they point things out. In my simple words I am in the shadows of their great Art Challenges. In less than inch by inch we can pinch in and out of this painting. You can find this now in the Upshot section.
Thanks for featuring the work of Romare Bearden. I live in Pittsburgh, and we are proud of Bearden's Pittsburgh connection. I respect Bearden's decision to not follow the artistic trend toward abstract expressionism, and to instead focus his work on representing the black experience. His collage work is seminal. I'm glad that he is getting the recognition that he deserves.
